Additionally, learn one Cantrip from a select list of level 1 Cantrips.
To create the best BG3 Warlock build, we recommend putting the majority of points into your Charisma, followed by Constitution and Dexterity.
For weapons, Battle Masters can easily make use of Balduran’s Giantslayer, allowing them to add double their strength to their damage rolls and giving them advantage on attack rolls against large, huge, or gargantuan creatures. It also allows you to grow to giant size, boosting your damage and giving you a pool of 27 temporary hit points to soak up damage. Giant Form also gives the user advantage on Strength checks and saving throws. Githyanki characters can alternatively use the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, unleashing psychic damage and stunning enemies while also gaining advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma Saving Throws. It also provides resistance to psychic damage and immunity to charm effects, which proves useful throughout Act 3.
At level one, they also gain the cantrip «Shillelagh,» letting them use their wisdom modifier for attack and damage rolls when using a staff or club. They also get the ability «Acolyte of Nature,» allowing them to choose a Druid Cantrip to learn and gain proficiency in Animal Handling, Nature, or Survival.
This can make them a valuable addition to caster-heavy teams. At level 10, a Wild Magic Barbarian gets the ability «Unstable Backlash.» This allows them to create a new Wild Magic surge (replacing the old one) whenever they take damage or fail a saving throw while raging. This helps to increase the chaos they cause in battle.
At level Six, Wild Magic Barbarians gain three «Bolstering Magic» abilities, which allow them to provide a bonus to themselves or an ally in melee range. They can use «Bolstering Magic: Boon» to add a 1d4 bonus to attack rolls and ability checks or use their Bolstering Boon to restore a single level one, two, or three spell slot.
The Warlock, being a Charisma-based caster , tends to do very well when it comes to rolling dice in conversations and crowd controlling enemies. Though speccing into Bard doesn’t necessarily improve the Warlock’s damage output, by putting just one point into this class, a Warlock can provide even more utility to the party through the Song of Rest and Bardic Inspiration abilities.
Level five adds «Speak with Dead» and «Slow» to their Domain spell list, letting them gather additional information from fallen creatures and inflict the powerful «slowed» condition on foes to reduce their capabilities.
Repelling Blast, on the other hand, doesn’t improve the damage of Eldritch Blast. Instead, it gives it the ability to push targets by 4.5m in the opposite direction they are hit. Be sure to position the Warlock correctly so that enemies hit can be reliably pushed off of ledges and into chasms practically for free.
Warlocks are spellcasters whose power is derived from an external power, usually a Patron Devil or other powerful, enigmatic being. The class has access to a number of powerful spells, mostly themed around control and the powers beyond comprehension, as well as the unique Eldritch Blast cantrip that is the basis of the majority of Warlocks’ damage output.
When Multiclassing using the Eldritch Knight subclass, it’s important to understand how spell slots are calculated. The Eldritch Knight subclass isn’t a full caster, so only 1/3 of its level (rounded down) is added to the effective caster level when multiclassing. As an example, a level Baldur’s Gate 3 beginner guide Eldritch Knight with one level in Wizard would have an effective caster level of 2. Eldritch Knight is an excellent defensive subclass thanks to its access to spells like Shield, and it can further strengthen its defenses with Abjuration Wizard levels. This allows them to utilize the Arcane Ward to protect themselves and their allies from incoming damage, charging the ward with every spell they cast.
The Fighter’s focus on Strength and Constitution gives them a big boost to Ability Checks that rely on those stats. As such, gaining proficiency with Athletics and Intimidation via the Soldier background is the best route to go to further improve two skills that the class already exemplifies.
In Act 1 , which typically brings players up to around Level 5 , you will be able to choose your Fighter Subclass (Battle Master), your Fighting Style (Great Weapon), a few Battle maneuvers, and a Feat.
If you are dead set on including a character in your party, simply talk to Withers to respec them to one of the optimal Warlock companion classes listed above. This way, you won’t miss out on that character’s questline, and you won’t have to suffer from an improperly balanced party.
At fifth level, Giant Barbarians gain access to Boot of the Giants, allowing them to spend a bonus action to kick a target away. This is a contested Athletics check, just like the shove action, but you can use Boot of the Giants to push enemies that are up to twice the weight you’d be able to shove. You’ll also deal your unarmed damage to the target when using Boot of the Giants, which can be enhanced by Tavern Brawler, Martial Arts from Monk, and items like the Gloves of Crushing.
