At the very end of Bethesda’s E3 press conference last year, Todd Howard wrapped up the presentation with two brief teases for the developer’s next pair of open world RPGs. The first was a brand-new IP set in space known as Starfield, which Howard has since confirmed during a PAX East panel is still very early in development and will not appear during the studio’s briefing this year.
As you do have a horse which you can ride, it’s likely that there will be some form of combat that you can do with your horse. Either way, the game promises to have a multitude of ways to engage in combat. Whether that be with your Katana, by bow or something else. Look forward to an engaging and fun form of com
For something that takes place from an utterly different perspective, look no further than the gothic horror 2D Soulslike, Blasphemous . Featuring religious imagery and overtones in tangent with seemingly Eldritch abominations and horrors, Blasphemous is a poignant and hyper-brutal pixel art action RPG fans of Sekiro will love in spa
It may not have had the clout of a Halo or Gears but Ori and the Blind Forest still stands as one of the best Microsoft exclusives of this generation. And its follow-up, Ori and the Will of the Wisps , looks to take things to the next level with refined platforming, better combat, and (if that’s even possible) even better-looking visuals. Although the devs at Moon Studios could have easily copied and pasted the formula from Ori 1 onto Ori 2 and called it a day, they are looking to make Will of the Wisps one of the best platformers ever made. It’s hard not to give Tetris Effect our Best Puzzle Game award on principle alone. Stemming from the series that helped create the genre, this cheeky title is a beautiful psychedelic trip into the world of Tetris . Absolutely a game PS VR owners will not want to m
For the uninitiated, Ninja Gaiden Black stars the stealthy ninja Ryu Hayabusa as he sets his sights on the mystical area of Vigoor in a particular area of Japan. This isn’t a game that goes easy on you, not even in the slightest. Battles against lesser enemies can (and will) leave you on the edge of your seat. Good space shooters are hard to come by these days. Seeing Ubisoft take a leap on something different than the usual open-world action-adventure game, especially the toys-to-life fad that has died down since Skylanders and Disney Infinity released a few years back, is somewhat refresh
The game does have its fair share of problems, however. Some of the most notable examples being its generic boss battles and an overall lack of variety in its enemies. It makes up for this though with its strong visuals and some interesting ideas that help it to stand out from some of the many other Souls-likes that are out there. The story’s not too bad either, although people who dislike anime might find it a little too exuberant for their tas
Like with some other games on the list, Beyond Good and Evil 2 had a much better showing behind closed doors. The demo we saw offered a vision and an ambition that mixed the freedom of exploration of No Man’s Sky with the potential for deep RPG mechanics and storytelling. The former is still being worked on, but the ability to travel between planets and reach massive open world cities was easily one of the more impressive things we saw during E3 2018. If Ubisoft can pull it off, Beyond Good and Evil 2 will make fans forget that this isn’t really the sequel (or prequel in this case) that they were looking
