The biggest announcement of the night was almost certainly the reveal of Diablo 2: Resurrected , an overhauled remaster of Diablo 2. According to a report from Bloomberg last month, the Vicarious Visions team was recently absorbed into Blizzard largely for the purpose of developing the Diablo 2 remaster. Though the game has been rumored for many years, this is the first official announcement that the game is com
But for those not planning to pick up the premium battle pass or aren’t already cemented in the Overwatch ecosystem, some new heroes are locked behind progression in ways that actively discourages the experimentation this game is all about. Kiriko — the new fox girl support hero who I am totally not simping for already — is available immediately to premium battle pass holders or existing players of the original Overwatch, while everyone else must grind to Level 55 in order to unlock her. That’s a big time investment for a hero in a hero shooter.
Overwatch fans got a closer look at the complex RPG systems coming to Overwatch 2 that will allow players to customize each character with unique sets of passive and active abilities to really define their individual playstyles in story mode. Each character has three separate skill trees with abilities that can be mixed and matched to produce synergistic effects. One example given was a pair of perks for Soldier 76 that would allow him to move around with his biotic field and repel enemies that moved into the field, giving Soldier a unique «snowplow» bu
Brigitte is a far more relatable character than Mercy, and girls with hair like that are always great friends. She’s not intimidating like Mercy, instead she knows the solution to most problems is eating ice cream, watching Mean Girls, and listening to Taylor Swift. She’ll sit in her old threadbare jumper on her cheap couch with her store-bought rose and she’ll offer solutions, but it doesn’t matter if these solutions are impossible and ridiculous — most problems can be solved by talking about them, and Brigitte’s understanding of that makes her the most supportive Support there
Blizzard released a trailer for Forged in Barrens that details some of the new cards and keywords coming later this year. You can pre-order the new set now for $49.99 or upgrade to the mega bundle for $79
Before you post this on your angry gamer subreddit, hear me out. I think paid video game loot boxes are vile. They are predatory in nature, designed to exploit players and obscure the real cost of in-game items. I think every country in the world should outlaw them, and I’m glad Overwatch got rid of them. At the same time, Overwatch 2 Hero Guide|Https://Overwatch2Fans.Com/ 2’s monetization is terrible. In the transition to free-to-play, we lost the ability to earn things for free. Though I’m mostly positive on the gameplay changes, it’s hard to ignore that Overwatch 2’s progression is worse in almost every way. I don’t love admitting it, but Overwatch was better off with loot bo
Overwatch skins are nothing more than costumes to dress your favourite characters up in, so it seems silly for someone like me, who only plays rarely and not even as Soldier 76, to care about them so much. But it’s not really about whether the skins look good, whether I’d want them, and whether they’re better or worse than other sets. It’s that Blizzard had the opportunity to embrace the queer culture behind Soldier 76 and Tracer, a culture the company is happy to cater to in only the most minor of ways, and instead ducked it. A skin that was unabashedly queer was an opportunity to reinforce the diversity Blizzard often talks about, but Overwatch deliberately let the opportunity pass
As I mentioned before, I haven’t played the Overwatch 2 beta, so I know nothing of Junker Queen besides what she looks like. Still, what she looks like is a person who has been methodically grown in a lab in order to drive a tank, so she places high. Junker Queen also feels symbolic of all my confusing feelings towards Overwatch. Blizzard seems to have been a hellscape of harassment, and yet they’ve created such a diverse (Black women aside) cast of female characters with a range of body types. For all the oversexualised Widowmakers and Tracers, we had Zarya, Mei, and Moira putting spotlights on different kinds of women too. Junker Queen, with her exposed midriff, has elements of the Windowmaker philosophy, but also seems highly queer-coded and has the sorts of rippling muscles women are often not allowed in popular culture. In any case, good at tanks I rec
Finally, while Blizzard did share some updates on the mobile game Diablo Immortal, no release for the game was given. There is another testing phase planned for later this year, similar to the technical alpha held last Decemb
The Diablo portion of the presentation began with a reveal of a new character class coming to Diablo 4. The Rogue is a combination of the original Diablo rogue and the Diablo 2 assassin. The class will feature ranged combat with bows, dual dagger melee, and plenty of traps and stealth options. A trailer for the class shows off some of its fast and flashy gamep
