The first question the actors were asked was how there first got involved with the game and their feelings on it. Fonteno felt that «it was an honor to be here» and Ogg reportedly said, upon seeing the script, that «ain’t nobody else doing it.» Luke elaborated on the experience itself as being «really intense and very physical.» Apparently the actors auditioning for the role took it very seriously, which is a great th
It goes without saying that adding that adding retired WWF (WWE) legend Macho Man Randy Savage to a game shouldn’t make it terrifying. The Slim Jim snappin’ wrestler was a popular figure with fans worldwide, and his colorful personality made him fun to watch on television. However, nothing could prepare us for what would happen if somebody replaced the dragons of Skyrim with Randy Savage. The way the theme music just subtly creeps in, the way the Randy Dragon’s neck just seems to bend, everything combines for a traumatic experience that would fill the pants of the most stoic amongst us. We would rather fight a hundred normal Skyrim dragons than face off against one single Randy Savage dra
Shifting the game’s hype train into high gear, developer Rockstar has been hard at work filling in our news feeds as of late, touting everything from radio station teases , to brand-new trailers and even a recreation of the GTA III Banshee sportscar . Now, the studio behind the mammoth sandbox franchise is sitting down to discuss the game’s unusually sourced voice w
The studio’s reluctance to pursue big name actors likely has as much to do with outrageous wage demands and ego trips as it does with authenticity. Tommy Vercetti’s Ray Liotta reportedly made life difficult during his tenure in the recording booth for GTA Vice City , veering between Goodfella s-like excellence and other less-than-stellar cond
In keeping with the series’ increasingly gritty and dramatic tone, as well as its general move away from more star powered cameos, (think Samuel L. Jackson, Burt Reynolds, James Woods, Bill Hader, Axel Rose appearing in previous outings) ‘Lazlow’ went on to critize the use of professionals for these kinds of minor roles, stat
The Grand Theft Auto V panel at NYCC was a gathering of passionate fans and the amazing motion capture actors: Ned Luke who plays Michael, Shawn «Solo» Fonteno who plays Franklin and Steven Ogg who plays Trevor. The panel naturally began with a bang, as Ogg threw T-shirts into the audience, riling them up for handouts and autographs for a good several minu
Until GTA V releases, our best look at the new first-person mode will come from the new trailer showing it off. Needless to say (but here goes) it’s very impressive. Has this new feature made the game a guaranteed purchase for some of you? How about heists in first-per
Later on, Luke and Fonteno reinforced the fact that the gig required large amounts of imagination because other than the occasional prop, there was nothing in the room. Ogg adds that the script for GTA V is brilliant and that it could have easily been 3500 pa
The first-person mode includes a new cover system, a traditional FPS control scheme, along with auxiliary features like new animations. It aims (no pun intended) to deliver a new perspective on Grand Theft Auto, a series that until now has focused entirely on a third-person perspective. The trailer illustrates many highlights of Grand Theft Auto V like taking out street assailants, jumping a train on an off-road vehicle, and even shaking an enemy off the wing of a plane. The new perspective makes moments like piloting a jet fighter different, with aiming displays and cockpit views all in tow. It definitely adds another take on Grand Theft Auto V.
Unsurprisingly, development of the new mode was made possible because of the new consoles (and PC) and the power they offer. With development time representing a huge factor, implementing the new mode was much more complex that just taking the pre-existing camera and moving it to the characters’ eye-level. And with Rockstar being, well, Rockstar, you either do it right or not at
It baffles me as to why Rockstar would even consider a first-person mode for GTA 5 vehicles|https://gta5play.com/ V. Perhaps it was the success of open-world shooters like Far Cry 3 that inspired them to do this, which is understandable. However, Far Cry 3 is a shooter. It’s built as a shooter and the shooting is a huge part of the game’s appeal. Sure, there’s exploration, but the action is Far Cry’s appeal by far. Grand Theft Auto V, for all its gritty action and violence, is not a shooter. Its action comes from something less primal and more intelligent. If anything, this first-person shooter setup does more to pander to the FPS crowd than to thoughtfully expand on what Grand Theft Auto has always been about.
«You have to change pretty much everything. I mean, if you want to do it right. We have a very solid third-person animation system, but you don’t just put the camera down there and expect to see the guns, aim, and sh
